| This is my section- pink and orange in a garter and stockinette stitch and increasing for the base of the tree. |
In January there was an artist who was asking for local knitters help with a project...not knowing anyone, but wanting to jump in and be open to new things, I signed up to help and went to the meeting. The Blanton Art Museum here has an annual open house where thousands of kids and adults come to explore the campus. The artist wanted to create a "Knitted Wonderland" to welcome children and adults to the museum.
There are about 99 trees and the response was much more than that, so I opted to partner up with two women for our tree. They did their pieces (we had to use three base colors with a hot pink accent) and gave them to me to connect together, making our "tree cozy" complete! I have to go on March 4th and install it on the tree, then it will be up until the 18th of March. I seriously can not wait to go take pictures of all the different trees that are unified by colors and stripes, but each their own.
The artist is Magda Sayeg and she has done quite a bit of yarn bombing. This bus is my favorite of her work:
I have never been part of something like this, but I like the idea of using something I enjoy to contribute to the enjoyment of others. I never really considered knitting and crocheting an art in this sense, but I dig it. I can't wait to go with Linc and watch our girls explore this wonderland.

Awesome! I wish we were knitting together!
So so so cool! I can't wait to see your tree!
Um...WOW! So fun! I have been knitting this weekend too...and getting super frustrated. I need to stop being such a perfectionist...i've pulled out three half-done headbands now! :/
That bus is killing me! I love love it!
Fun idea! I can't quite visualize how you get that around a tree, though...
Yarn bombing. Who knew?
